Yeah, I had the same problem, too. I've got a PeeCee DVR behind my firewall that I need to access to access the TV schedule and program it remotely. I added a proxy to get access to it remotely -- and it didn't take long for the lamers to start hitting it and using my host to hide their nefarious ...

Huffman's in BZIP, I just discovered. I'm working on building all the libraries as was discussed on Jakob's page.

My 800's working superbly now, and makes for a great development machine!

I used the following commands to get all the respective kits and patches:

$ lynx http://prdownloads ...

Doing a search on the make.com reveals that the link command processes a bunch of .olb files that should be in Sys$Library. Looks like we still have to pull together all the separate libraries and build them -- they aren't anyplace in the directory tree.

Agreed. I hope to be back on this project soon. I've got my server replaced, upgraded, and online now. I've also upgraded my blog from Pivot v1.4 to 1.22 -- Pivot rocks! In the process, I also converted from ODS-2 to ODS-5 on all of my drives (OVMS 7.3-2 rocks!) which allowed me to lay down the new ...

I'll bet that's where some of the other libraries come into play -- I noticed a TrueType library along with a compression library. We obviously will need to include even more in order to get it going.

You've gotten further than I did -- my build failed, and I didn't wind up with an executable.

I ...

I thought this would be as good a place as any (if not better) to document this info.

While I'm busy building up my new AS800 (which has actually booted from CD now, tested out disks, and looks pretty good, save for a bum tape drive and dead ethernet card), here's a site I found to be quite helpful ...

Bad news -- Yoda's racking up errors on one of his disks. It's making quite a racket, too -- I won't be able to live with this 24x7, probably not even 24x3. I'm going to have to tear it down this weekend, if it survives that long.

Nuts, and I just reached 1/2 year of uptime on it. Well, some ...

Plan of attack?

Let's agree on a config to start working with. Do we go with the latest rev (v6) or one of the "pre-built" binary kits, like the v5 kit on the Freeware CDs? I think we can get at least one v5 kit that truly has all the components we need. We will need to do a lot of kit scrounging to get a v6 kit ...

Like I always tell my users, use the Disk$Label logicals, not $1$DKA100, in their code -- VMS always creates them. Then it doesn't matter *what* changes are made to the underlying hardware if the volume label stays the same. I moved my users from 20 RF drives to 24 1 & 2 gig RZ drives to 4 36 gig ...

Re: ImageMagick

Is this the point which you reached? Have you actually managed to get JPEG processing working and if so, what did you do? :?:

Yes, that's exactly where I'm at. I've found the JPEG libraries and have built them, and with a bit of hair pulling, managed to get the requisite components into Sys ...

My take

I saw your post on c.o.v., but was at work and didn't have an opportunity to reply, and I can't get to this system from work (they block non-standard http ports at the corporate level.)

My take on the topic is that it's probably a security feature: don't turn on anything you don't need, to limit ...

Pivot

I didn't do extensive searching, but once I found this one, I had to give it a try. The big bene here is that it runs solely on PHP. No MySQL, no compiled code, and best of all, it ran on my ODS-2 disks with minor modifications. (There were about a half-dozen include files that had double extensions ...

Re: Great Job

This is great! I'm setting up a family web site on an AS 800 and this is just what I need. I'll be looking forward to reading all about how it's done. Thanks a lot! :D

I've got my AS 400 running 7.3-1, Apache 2.0, PHP 1.2, and TCP/IP Service v7.3 w/ the SSH EAK. Not bad for a 10 year old machine ...
